together represent a Progression
in the Struggle between Man
and Woman which is called Love –
– From its Onset when it
is nearly rejected (3 pictures) – thereafter Picture No –
The Kiss –    Love and Agony
– where the Struggle as such has Begun –

    Picture No – Woman in a state of
surrender – where she acquires the afflicted beauty
of a Madonna –

    Mystery is from
an entire Progression gathered in one
– Woman who in
her Diversity is
a Mystery to Man –
Woman who is simultaneously Saint
– Whore and unhappily devoted

Jealousy – a large abandoned Shore –

    The Woman’s Hair has wound itself
around him and ensnared his
Heart No 4 The Man is shaken by the
Struggle

    No 4    The Sick atmosphere in nature
appears to him as a great Scream – where
blood-red Clouds are like dripping Blood
