Johan Collett Michelsen (1862–1901)
Norwegian lawyer. Had his portrait done by Munch. Group portrait “Law” together with Knud Knudsen and Bernt Anker Bødtker Hambro. All of the subjects were connected with the circle of Kristiania bohemians. M. studied law and literature and was an enthusiastic member of the Student Union (Studentersamfundet). The brother of the Prime Minister Christian Michelsen, who blamed Hans Jæger for his brother’s alcoholism and early death. M. can be seen on the right in the picture. M. was frequently in the company of Oda Krohg and Gunnar Heiberg.
