Vera
A literary character that appears in Munch’s literary sketches, presumably based on Oda Krohg. Munch took the name Vera from Hans Jæger’s short story “Et Kys og En Forsoning” in Novelletter (published 14 December 1889), where Christian Krohg appears under the name Bjørk. Vera’s complicated relationship to her husband Christian Krohg, and to her lovers Hans Jæger, Jappe Nilssen and Gunnar Heiberg are depicted in Munch’s literary sketches. Vera also appears in Hans Jæger’s novels Syk kjærlighet (1893), Bekjendelser (1902) and Fengsel og fortvilelse (1903).
